Monthly Wrap-Up & Stacking the Shelves #22- It’s Been Busy

January 31, 2015 Stacking the Shelves, Wrap-Up 14

Monthly Wrap Up

Marianne

It’s the end of the month already, and normally I’d be saying ‘Where did the month go? Omg time flies by!’ but this month, it’s not the case. I’ve been taking advantage of my days, because I’ve lately become aware of how precious time is. I feel content with the way I’ve been managing my time, and even with my college semester being every bit as overwhelming as before; I’ve got to say that I am feeling pretty stress-free right now. Hope the feeling lasts!

As to how my reading has been going; I‘ve got to say I’m impressed at the way I’ve been able to read in between my free time. I go through audiobooks and ebooks and physical books like a well-oiled machine! Writing myself a reading schedule is really doing wonders. I’m still reading through the Harry Potter series! Next book to read is The Goblet of Fire, which was my least favorite movie, but hopefully still a really awesome book!

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but lately I’ve taken to only posting on Mondays and Fridays. I used to post on: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. I think this is the perfect way to get myself organized and not stress so much about what I should post next. Once I’ve scheduled enough posts in advance, I might post again like I used to. Let’s see. 🙂

Jennifer

Unlike Marianne, I feel like the month is slipping from my fingers asap and if I close my eyes long enough, I’ll be already graduating High School. And maybe even be in my first day of college. I’ve been pretty busy with college applications, orientations, school work, books, and babysitting my nephew. Strangely enough, I am not as stressed as I would have been last year. I’ve been real close with an agenda and organizing everything I have to do and not do.

My challenge this year is less than the last two years, but I feel I’m doing well considering I’m reading extremely slow. I’m going back and forth between ebooks and physicals I’ve bought from all genres. And I read Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James. I was mindfucked at first, and by the end I oddly liked it, though I am strongly against some of the things presented, but further info on that will be in my review soon.

The year, so far, looks very promising and I hope I’m able to achieve all I have in mind, and motivate myself to work again in the blog as I used to. And I’d like to take the moment to say how awesome Marianne is for making these posts look stunning. That’s really something. Take it from someone who can barely do that stuff without copying someone else’s code xD

Stacking The Shelves is a meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and it’s all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! It gives us bloggers a chance to share what we books we’ve acquired over the last week(s).

Marianne

So, last week I was writing the Stacking the Shelves portion of this post at 2am, and this happened:

Can you see where I went wrong? 😛

So I guess that’s the last time (but not really) that I write a post at that hour! Haha.

I kind of fangirled on Instagram about getting Sisters of Blood and Spirit by Kady Cross. I’ve been looking forward to this book for a really long time, and I LOVE the cover.

I hadn’t really heard anything about this book, but I loved the description and knew I simply had to read it. Plus I am in desperate need of a good laugh as of recently.

I got this beauty last Sunday, even though I tried to keep my word on not buying any more books. But it was cheap, so sue me xD Can’t wait to read it and immerse myself into the world of Divergent once again <3

What did you get this week? Leave me links to your blog posts to check it out!

The following two tabs change content below.
I'm Marianne. Professional Fangirl, part-time Blogger. Full-time college student. GIFs are a natural part of my posts, so be warned. I LOVE reading, so definitely feel free to discuss books with me. Opinions are welcome.
  • I honestly feel weird at the idea of reading 50 shades of grey but oddly enough I think I wouldn’t dislike it as a book: And I’m probably gonna watch the movie anyway.. So I guess I’ll see how the movie is first and then decide 🙂

  • Marianne: Way to go with your reading schedule! I’m glad to hear that you’re finding it manageable to read while at college, I can’t say I feel the same…drowning in assigned reading, lol. If reducing the number of days you post is what you need to read, then go for it!

Jennifer: I can’t wait to see your 50 Shades review, it’s awesome that you can be honest with how you felt about the book. I really want to see what you thought about it!

    • I don’t have assigned reading since this year I decided not to take literature. Haha. Hope you stay afloat! 😉

  • I actually read want to check out fifty shades too, if not just out of curiosity because it’s so popular. Looks like you guys are doing well 🙂 I know I struggle to find time to read in college, you must teach me your ways.

    • I don’t even know my ways, haha. But seriously. I’m just scheduling what books to read next, so I kind of just go like that.

  • Wow! You’re both doing great reading-wise! I only just managed to squeeze in a second book in January! It’s definitely been a busy month for the both of you, but I am glad you’re feeling stress-free, Marianne! 🙂 I don’t think I remember how that feels. I’m starting uni in March, so I’m trying to read ALL OF THE BOOKS in February.

  • Wow, good on you guys for reading that many books in a month! I’m the same Jennifer, my goal is a lot less than last year too because I want to be more relaxed about it. Keen to hear your thoughts on Fifty Shades, it is interesting but man I have a problem with those characters.

Glad to hear you’ve relaxed your posting schedule too Marianne!

  • wow. It’s been a busy month for you guys. I’m also ahead of my reading progress in Goodreads. It makes me so happy.. and successful somehow 😛 Hmmm, thanks for reminding me to do my January post too 😛

  • Ohhh I loved Four. XD It wasn’t as good as the other books, but I just think this is because the last short story is Tris’ intro into Dauntless and it was just via Four’s POV and I felt deja vu, hehe, obviously. But otherwise…LITTLE WITTLE FOUR!!! *ahem* I hadn’t heard of Sisters of Blood and Spirit but that cover has totally got me intrigued!

  • Melanie Z

Ooh you are both doing well on your GR challenges! Keep up the amazing work, girls! And yay for Sisters of Blood and Spirit! I had no idea Kady Cross was releasing a new book until yesterday–so I very excited about it now!

Hope you both have an excellent week this week <33

  • Great job on your reading goals! Hope things continue to go smoothly & if not, don’t stress out about it, it’s totally ok!! I’m right on target with my goals as well, although I am saying “Where did the month go?!” — it went by too fast! Thanks for sharing!

  • Congrats on you both being ahead in your reading goal! I’m jealous you’re so stress free feeling Marianne but I’m getting better right noire since I just started maternity leave since the baby is due in a few weeks. Thanks for giving my tips posts a shout out!

  • Oh, hope you don’t get too stressed! Have a great week, Lauren!
