1,135,789. That’s how many subscribers sixteen-year-old West Ryder has on his web vlog series. But he only has eyes for one of them.

As one of the internet’s most prestigious video bloggers, West talks about high school relationships under the name “Sam Green.” As far as he knows, no one from school, not even his best friend, Cat, has seen his videos. But the highlight of the whole thing is Harper Knight, who comments every day at exactly 2:02 in the afternoon. He doesn’t know anything about her aside from the occasional deep philosophical messaging on why pizza tastes so delicious, but as stupid as it sounds, he might be falling for her. So when they finally agree to meet in real life, West’s hope for romance seems more and more in reach. But that all changes as soon as he arrives at their meeting spot and sees Cat walking toward him, wearing the same “I <3 Sam Green” T-shirt Harper promised she'd have on.

To his alarm, West realizes he is falling in love with the best friend who has always been a sister to him.

My thoughts:

I’ve been excited about reading Click to Subscribe, since I read the amazing plot summary. Two best friends falling in love? YES, PLEASE!

This book is amazing. From the characters, to the dialogue, to even the prose, everything in this book was completely amazing.

The main character in this book is West Ryder, a 16 year-old with a vlog. He vlogs under the pseudonym Sam Green (IS THIS A NERDFIGHTER REFERENCE, OR AM I THE ONLY ONE THAT PICKED UP ON IT?), and as far as he knows, nobody, not even his best friend, know about it.

Vlogging is something I can’t not do, and I never feel more at peace than when I’m talking in front of the camera, filming my next vlog.

West is completely relatable. He’s the shy, “nerdy” 16 year-old that you can’t help but like. He’s funny, and smart, and I just love reading his internal dialogue.

Our other protagonist in this story, is Cat Davenport. She’s West’s best friend, and hiding the fact that she’s completely in love with him. I don’t know about you guys, but I always imagined Cat looking a bit like this:

She’s funny, wise, geeky, and sarcastic,  everything I love in a character.

Her personality is like the wind beneath West Ryder’s wings (yes, I went there). She and West just click in such a great way.

I love and admire Cat, because she had the guts to do something most teenage girls would die before doing: she fought for the love of her life, she wanted to “woo” him.

I find that this story is completely character driven. This story revolves around both main characters, and their struggles with falling in love for each other.

The romance in this story was completely refreshing and original. There was no insta-love, and you could actually feel the romance growing between the characters. There was no doubt in my mind that these two characters belong together. This story was completely  different from other YA romances, because in this book, the girl chases the guy, and the guy is the one that’s unsure of his feelings.

Other romance and characters, this book is driven by a lot of humor as well. From awkward cringe-worthy situations, to tears streaming down your face from laughing so much situations, this book had it all.

What I loved most of all were the interactions between Sam Green and Harper Knight. Those Haikus!

My haikus bring all
the girls to the yard damn right
they’re better than yours

Overall, this book takes a subject as simple as teenage romance, and creates a wonderful story full with humor, angst, romance and even some life-lessons too.

Well, sometimes love is right in front of you the whole time, even if you don’t realize it. And, like your vlog, all you have to do is click to subscribe.

This book is relatively short (around 250 pages) which you can read in just a few hours. You should definitely pick this up, you won’t regret it.
