Based on the hit movie, join the girls as they get settled into Canterlot High. Plus, Sunset Shimmer tries to find the true meaning of the holidays as rumors circulate around the school. Collects the 2013 Annual and the 2014 Holiday Special.
I would like to start this review by first stating that you cannot read this comic without first seeing the My Little Pony Equestria Girls Movie (s). The comic would otherwise make little sense, and as I read in another review, it will be annoying if you do watch the movies afterwards. With that out of the way…
I’m in love with My Little Pony, both tv series, movies, and comics, and this one was simply amazing into bringing to life even more stories of the Equestria Girls. In this edition we have two stories, one before the first Equestria Girls movie, and one after it. In the first story we have a backstory on how the girls met (minus Twilight Sparkle) and it gives a better understanding on how united they all were as friends. Plus I loved seeing the normal teen struggles we all face in High School while still trying to get to know ourselves and be true to that. And Pinkie Pie! I love her.
The second story is after the movie where we’re able to see Sunset Shimmer trying to fit in as friends with the girls after her villainous attempts in the movie. While trying to show Sunset Shimmer the true meaning of friendship and l0ve, the girls plan a series of slumber parties in their respective houses, but things go from great to horribly bad when secrets and pictures from the parties are shared on a page similar to our Facebook. And everyone is blamming Sunset Shimmer for it. The comic presents many teachings on friendship, trust, family, and everyday struggles that stays true to what My Little Pony shows.
As for the art, each page was vibrant with colors and new settings that had me in awe with all I saw. Loved, loved, loved it <3
