10 Reasons to Read Dangerous Girls

dangerousgirlsFrom Goodreads: It’s Spring Break of senior year. Anna, her boyfriend Tate, her best friend Elise, and a few other close friends are off to a debaucherous trip to Aruba that promises to be the time of their lives. But when Elise is found brutally murdered, Anna finds herself trapped in a country not her own, fighting against vile and contemptuous accusations.

As Anna sets out to find her friend’s killer; she discovers hard truths about her friendships, the slippery nature of truth, and the ache of young love.

As she awaits the judge’s decree, it becomes clear that everyone around her thinks she is not just guilty, but dangerous. When the truth comes out, it is more shocking than one could ever imagine…

Yes, you’ve probably heard this one already… but Dangerous Girls is one of the best books I’ve read this year. It’s the first book that pops into my head when I’m asked for a book recommendation. It hasn’t been a miss with any of the people I’ve recommended it to yet… That’s why I’m here to recommend it to you! *points at you through the computer screen*

Since I can’t produce the words to review this as eloquently and insightful as I’d like to, I’ll give you a list (because lists are beautiful and everything looks beautiful in list form).

Here are 10 reasons to read Dangerous Girls by Abigail Haas:

  1. It’s a murder/mystery novel.

I’m barely skimming the surface on this book, but the main issue is that Elise, Anna’s best friend was murdered in Aruba, and Anna is accused as the main suspect. The whole story then tries to deconstruct what really happened in Aruba and who’s actually responsible so Anna can be set free.

  2. Literally everyone has a motive for murder.

No lie, you’ll be suspicious of every single character. EVERYONE. Even that one guy who was casually walking his dog in page 34. (Kidding. Or am I?

  3. Everyone loves it.

I have yet to talk to a person who hasn’t liked it. Seriously. Go to Twitter, and ask anyone what they think of the book. (I dare you)

If you want to see 5 book bloggers gushing over a book… then this is the thread for you! Plus, no spoilers 🙂

  4. The writing is captivating.

I only intended to read for a little while and finished the book in one sitting. “One more chapter” is a lie when it comes to this book.

  5. It’s like a movie in your head! The author wrote it using multiple time frames, and honestly it’s the best part of this book.

I honestly could imagine everything clearly in my head and I loved it. It was definitely a different experience.

  6. It is unpredictable.

Literally. You’ll never see it coming. (or you did but were in denial)

  7. …totally unpredictable.

I yelled when the big reveal came up. My heart was pounding so quickly. It was amazing. I was left like:

  8. …and very addicting.

“Just one more chapter” is a lie with this book.

  9. It’s actually very insightful, too. You get to learn about how the judicial system works.

It’s an accurate portrayal of how the law works outside of the US, and if you’re like me (future law student here), then you’ll love reading about the trial.

  10. Plus look at that cover!

No matter what cover you buy, they’re all pretty captivating and amazing. They all have a certain ‘eeriness’.

  1. I ordered this book yesterday because I’m suddenly seeing everyone recommend it! I guess this means it needs to go on top of my list now! I’m sure your post would have absolutely convinced me if I’d still bee on the fence about it though 🙂

  2. Everyone is telling me to read Dangerous Girls! I swear, I haven’t seen a single negative review. I promise I WILL read it soon. Hopefully.

  3. I’ve heard only great things about this one and I can’t wait to read. I just recently bought it from Bookoutlet during their sales last week. Now I just have to (im)patiently wait for it to arrive.

      1. The shipping is a bit expensive for me (although the bargains are still worth it), so that helps me restrict myself. But it is amazing how cheap their books are. I just ordered it, so I will have to wait a while *sad face*.

  4. YAY IM FAMOUS! Hehe I am so glad we all discovered and fangirled over Dangerous Girls because seriously, amaze. It IS like a movie in your head and I loved how it threw the suspicion around. Best book of 2014 for me! Great post Marianne ❤
