Weekly Wrap Up
In case you haven’t noticed there’s a new blog layout! We decided to start 2015 with a new look! We might be changing it up later, when we actually know what we’re going to do with the blog, but for now this is what you’ll be seeing. Hope you like it 🙂
For most of you, the Holidays are over, but here in Puerto Rico they’ve just begun. On January 6th is Three Kings Day, which, if you were a follower last year, you’ll remember I explained it on the blog. After that, we have the Octavitas (oc-ta-vee-tahz) which is basically about 8 days or so of continuosly partying. After the wonderful Octavitas (or during, I’m never entirely sure), the Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastian go on for a whole weekend in Puerto Rico’s capital city. As you can see, we puertoricans love our holidays.
I don’t start the semester until the end of January, which means I can celebrate all these things! Looking forward to it, since I’m finally old enough (and have the time!) to enjoy them.
I’ve started my reading challenge for 2015!
As most of you know, I didn’t complete my reading challenge last year, so this year I lowered the number of books I want to read, and have finally set up a reading schedule to keep track of how many books I’ve read and which ones I should read next.
I’ve already started on the right foot! I read A Little Something Different by Sandy Hall and absolutely loved it! I’m hoping it’s a sign that my reading year will be fantastic!
There’s a Giveaway currently going on as part of a blog tour I participated in, so be sure to check it out!
What Happened This Week:
[wrap-up-posts week=”52″ year=”2014″ listtype=”ul”]
Around the Web:
Valeria @ A Touch of Book Madness talks about The Importance of Fluffy Reads.
Joy @ Thoughts by J creates a wonderful guide for bloggers who are a bit unsure as to how to request review copies from major publishers.
Cait @ Paper Fury always has awesome posts and this one doesn’t disappoint: Do You Read Chapter Samplers?
Buzzfeed always has awesome videos, and this week I discovered yet another bookish themed video! It’s really accurate and I just love it:
Stacking the Shelves
Stacking The Shelves is a meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and it’s all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! It gives us bloggers a chance to share what we books we’ve acquired over the last week(s).
I’ll admit that I’m actually waiting for some books to arrive before I share, but I’ll just let you know upfront that I kind of went a bit crazy with Barnes and Noble end of the year book sales and bought a couple of books 😀
Fighting crime with other teenagers under the alter ego Mega Girl was fun – until an encounter with Menace, her mind-reading arch enemy, showed her evidence of a sinister conspiracy, and suddenly battling giant robots didn’t seem so important.
Now Alison is going to college and trying to find ways to help the world while still getting to class on time. It’s impossible to escape the past, however, and everyone has their own idea of what it means to be a hero….
After a phenomenal success on Kickstarter, Brennan Lee Mulligan and Molly Ostertag bring their popular webcomic into print, collecting the first four issues, as well as some all-new, full-color pages!
When I saw this on Netgalley I immediately requested it just because of the title! I really hope I like it!
