Bookish Bucket List/Resolutions for 2015

I love making lists. Seriously. I think there’s something wrong with me. Most of the time, I try to write lists in my reviews, but then I realise I should probably try to be more “eloquent” so I don’t use the list. This time, however, I have no choice but to use a list and I couldn’t be happier! Lists are quick to the point which is what I always love to do! 🙂

Since it’s 2015, and everyone always make resolutions for themselves, I thought “hey, why not think of some resolutions for the blog? That should be fun!” and guess what? It was super fun! However something different about my list is the fact that some of these count as part of my “Bucket List” and some of these are more resolutions than anything else.

Here are my resolutions:

1- Go to BEA

BEA or Book Expo America is the biggest bookish activity that happens in America, and this is literally all I’ve ever wanted to do even before I started blogging. It’s a really awesome convention dedicated completely to books! You can meet your favorite authors, network with other book lovers like yourself, and even get yourself some free books! It’s basically bookish heaven. This year, if everything goes according to plan (read: if I get a job) I will be attending Book Con (if I can’t attend the bloggers conference, as well). Wish me luck! 🙂

2- Own at least 20 signed books

I don’t know about you, but I love signed books. It makes me feel as if the books are all the more special. I own 3 at the moment, but I’m always on the lookout for more!

3- Meet other bloggers

I recently found out that there are more bloggers from PR so this means we can meet up! It’s so very exciting because one of them actually works in a bookstore I visit frequently, so it’s all a matter of actually going to the store when she’s working there. So exciting!

4- Meet an author

I’ve never met an author in person. I don’t think any authors actually visit Puerto Rico at all, which means I need to visit them. I’m hoping that going to BEA will help me achieve this goal.

5- Schedule posts on the blog for at least 2 months

I’m really bad at scheduling posts! I usually just draft a lot of posts and post them whenever I log in next, which is bad if I’m feeling particularly lazy or I can’t log in for a long time! I’ve been recently staying up until 3 in the morning, and I’ve been using the time to draft reviews and posts and such for this reason.

6- I will re read at least 1 book per month.

I love rereading books, even if I technically don’t have the time to do so. I like reconnecting with old characters and stories, and I decided I should do this at least once a month. I have nothing to lose, do I? 🙂

7- Visit a location from one of my favorite books

I have a very adventurous spirit, which is why whenever I read a book, I add another destination to my travel wish list. Last year, I read plenty of books that reminded me that I really need to see any of the destinations from some of my favorite books. I have so many options to choose from! Prague from Daughter of Smoke and Bone, France from Anna and the French Kiss, Amsterdam from The Fault in Our Stars, California from Time Between Us, and many others. The possibilities are endless.

8- Have a series that completely matches (all hardcovers or all paperbacks)

Currently NONE of my series match. I guess I was so desperate to read the book that I forgot to think of the edition I should buy it in! I don’t mind that they don’t match, but I’m hoping that as I keep buying new series, I start matching them because I love how they look on my bookshelf!

9- Finish at least 4 series that I’m currently reading.

I have a problem. I don’t finish series. I have the books on my bookshelf or my Kindle or whatever, and I look at the books, I touch the books, I even open them at one point, but I never read them. I’m just so afraid of finishing favorite series! This year, I’m hoping to get over my fear!

10- Get a bookish tattoo

Now this one will be the hardest one of the list just because my mother would rather have a stroke than let me have a tattoo. But I love tattoos so much and I’d love to get something like:

Obviously not the same tattoo and not on the same places as the pictures, but I really want a tattoo that proudly displays some of my favorite books!

11. Write Reviews Immediately After Finishing a Book

I’m really bad at this. I usually wait weeks or even months to write reviews. Which leads to a backup of posts because I don’t have anything to post! I’m trying to be better at this because there’s really no excuse. I’m a book blogger, for crying out loud! I should be more organised, lol.

12. Comment on other blogs more

I’m just so lazy. I ignore the comments for a couple of days and then I realise I have too many blogs to comment on and just decide not to. The thing is I love reading other blogs, and commenting, too! The laziness just kills me.

So here were some of my resolutions!

Do you have some resolutions/items for your bucket list that you’d like to share with me? Let me know below!

  1. Wow, such a range of resolutions! I wish you all the best in achieving them! I actually sort of like that none of your series match, just because everyone always gives me a hard time about it. See everyone, I’m not the only one who has mismatching series! 😛 And yes, BEA would be awesome to go to. I’m not sure if I’ll ever go, but it would be pretty amazing to meet everyone! Hope you have an amazing 2015 Marianne! 🙂

  2. I think these are all good resolutions. I would love to go to BEA someday, but for now, that seems a bit difficult for me. Most of my series don’t match either, so I’m with Asti in this. I know they look good when they match, and I’m trying to be more careful with the editions I buy as well, but it doesn’t really bother me much. It is always so hard to write the review as soon as you finish the book, but it is a good exercise not to wait more than a couple of days. I like to have the book sink in a bit after I finish it though, but when a week has passed, I know I need to start writing them soon.

  3. This is such a good list! Going to BEA is definitely something that I would love to do, but I get a little overwhelmed thinking about it sometimes (it must be so crazy!).
A bookish tattoo would be SO CUTE, I have a friend who has a tattoo of the Deathly Hallows symbol. 🙂
I’ve also really slacked off on commenting/reading other blogs since school started again, and it’s so sad because posting your own posts is only really half of blogging. When I can’t read others’ posts it feels like I’m missing an arm or something, haha. I’ve also recently come to realize how much reading other blogs helps to inspire my own posts, so this is one of my top bookish resolutions!

  4. I used to reread books more but now I just don’t bother since there are so many other books I want to read. writing reviews helps me not need to have to reread them also which is great. Commenting more is great. but 2 months scheduled in advance!? That is so much – I think I would be happy with two weeks LOL Good luck =)

  5. I want to go to BEA too!!!! I want to meet more bloggers as well 😀 Ooh literary tattoos!! I want to write reviews right after reading too. Great goals, Marianne!! 😀

  6. OMG, I would LOVE to go to BEA!!! When I’ll be an adult, probably (5 1/2 more months hahah!!) Hey, maybe we can go together? 😉 I’d love to go with other bloggers, because I’d probably get lost alone ahha. I’ll start saving some money to maybe go next year. ANYWAY, sorry, I kinda drifted from your post. A bookish tattoo sounds awesome! Woah! If I had a tattoo, it would be a rune of courage 😀

  7. I love your bookish resolutions Marianne, definitely meeting more authors and bloggers would be the best thing ever! how exciting that there are some bloggers in your area! OMG it would be the best thing going to BEA, hopefully that does happen!

  8. I love making lists as well and I think for quite soem posts, like this one, lists work perfectly! I actually have no idea how many signed books I own, I shoudl count them once. I don’t have too many of them, but i did won and got gifted a few of them. I love it when series match and while I have some with different cover editions I do try to be consistent with format, like if I buy the first book in paperback i buy the rest in paperback as well. Good luck with your goals!
